A Japanese woman in winter dress seen in the photographer's studio. Wearing a kerchief covering her head, a short padded coat over a traditional robe with a sash, and a pair of elevated wooden sandals made for walking through the snow and dirt she carries an oil-paper umbrella painted in a "snake eye" design.
